Designing your flier
A common mistake is to over-clutter
the flier; "Less is more." Don't feel that every part of the
ad space needs to be filled with words or images. White space is a good
thing.
DON’T USE ALL CAPS
Often I come across fliers that are thrown through my door with
the text written in CAPS. Hopefully this is not one your leaflets.
CAPS should be used sparingly if you can avoid using CAPS for the headline
do so.
Why CAPS are bad you may ask? Because they are speed bumps for the
eyes. When you are speed reading or reading materials quickly
your brain will make out the ups, downs and curves of individual letters.
IN CAPS ALL THE LETTERS ARE THE SAME
HEIGHT, SO YOUR BRAIN HAS TO SLOW DOWN TO MAKE OUT ALL THE LETTERS.
Rewritten
In caps all the letters are the same
height, so your brain has to slow down to make out all the letters.
Your Flier should follow this guide as a general rule.
Fancy graphics are cool to look at and
yes your company’s logo is award winning but leaflet distribution
is not a graphic award show. The whole idea behind producing your to
campaign is to generate leads, subscribers and new business. The structure
above is the right way to do it.
Images
Use stock photography that shows your
"customers." An image of perhaps happy children playing,
a satisfied mother, or a productive looking office -- any combination
of upbeat images that showcases the intended customer reaction to your
product
Shapes
Curves, arcs, circles, rounded edges or other organic shapes are best
