designing a leaflet that sells
Choosing
a size
During the design phase you must first
decide what is the ideal paper weight and size that your artwork will
be placed on. This is totally up to you and I know there are obvious
benefits and downsides. All these factors will come into play in your
decision to choose your ideal size.
There are a few factors you should take
into consideration, I will list the Positives and the possible negative
factors. There are also other things you never thought about
but should be aware of.
Lower Quality and smaller size – A6 150gsm Vs
Higher Quality and
larger size – A5 350gsm
Printing on a lower quality paper saves on cost
Positive
Lower quality paper means they are easily ripped as they are pushed through letterboxes and on the other side of the door leaflets a torn and crumpled. This does not look good as a first impression when trying to win new business.
Negative
Smaller paper, smaller area and less information or a smaller font size must be used.
Negative
Letterbox distribution is a boring and
monotonous job and slugging around all day with a 30lb sack on your
shoulder is not easy work.
Doing a shared plan not only reduces your marketing strength but also increases the chances of your fliers being thrown away.
